Description

Here STEAM is an initiative aimed at attracting female talent to engineering studies, challenging gender stereotypes and promoting the visibility of female role models in STEM. The program focuses on engaging primary and secondary school students and transforming their perception of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) subjects.

Each year, about 25 schools participate in this free program, which offers the following benefits:

  1. Teacher training: Teachers are trained to incorporate STEAM actions in their classrooms from an inclusive gender perspective.
  2. Here STEAM UPC Distinctive: Participating schools receive the prestigious Here STEAM UPC Distinctive, which accredits their commitment to promoting gender equality in STEAM.
  3. Workshops and talks: Schools can request a visit from a UPC referent researcher to give talks or workshops, offering first-hand insight into STEAM fields.
  4. Mentoring for teachers: They can also request the support of a UPC researcher to help teachers design and implement their own STEAM projects.

The program is supported by the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Consorci d'Educació de Barcelona, as well as various companies and organizations.
