The "Global Challenges and STEM Solutions" app offers an interactive experience to explore current global challenges and consider possible solutions through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

To support its use, we are sharing two supplementary resources: a visual guide for students and teaching guidelines for teachers. Each resource offers step-by-step instructions, criteria, and specific tips for making the most of the experience from different perspectives.

"Global Challenges and STEM Solutions " is a web app that invites you to explore some of the major challenges facing humanity and to think about possible solutions from a STEM perspective.

Why?

Because we believe that the fields of science, mathematics, engineering, and technology can offer many opportunities today to address these issues, while also providing you with a rewarding, relevant, and challenging career and profession.

The app offers optional modules on current dilemmas and crises. They’re all fascinating! Plus, you’ll learn about global issues, real people and role models, and verified information and data. You’ll be able to develop creative proposals to turn global problems into opportunities for action. Are you excited yet?

This visual guide walks you through the process step by step so you can familiarize yourself with the interface, understand how to navigate the app, and get the most out of each section of the experience.

Guidelines for Teachers

"Global Challenges and STEM Solutions " is a web app designed for teenagers and young adults that invites them to explore some of the major challenges facing humanity and to think of possible solutions from a STEM perspective.

Science and technology offer diverse and valuable opportunities to develop critical thinking, environmental literacy, and civic responsibility among our students, while also providing an excellent path for future professional development. Providing experiences and opportunities for exploration from an early age is critical and essential!

" Guidelines for Designing Educational Experiences" provides interactive materials designed to support teaching teams in integrating the "Global Challenges and STEM Solutions" app into their instruction. This resource offers criteria and guidance for designing context-based, interdisciplinary teaching activities based on real-world problems and a STEM perspective.

Throughout the tour, key points are covered to:

  • define the pedagogical focus of the proposal, based on the teaching and learning objectives;
  • align the app with the curriculum, content, and institutional goals;
  • organize schedules, itineraries, and participation formats, depending on the group and the context;
  • support students in exploring, analyzing, and designing solutions;
  • Select the global challenges that best align with your educational approach.
