The objective of the high school visits is to introduce international students, their families and school guidance staff to the university's academic offerings, with a focus on engineering and the advantages of studying abroad. These visits, which usually last half a day and take place several times a year, aim to demystify the STEM fields and encourage students, especially those from outside the EU, to consider higher education in Lisbon. Through one-on-one meetings with guidance staff and families, fairs and student presentations, the Admissions Office team provides direct communication, highlighting the opportunities offered by Lisbon Tech and attracting prospective students who initially would not have considered STEM fields or studying in Portugal.
Some key steps in implementation include: preparing dynamic presentations for the student body, including question and answer sessions and testimonials from Técnico's student body; preparing promotional material for fairs; organizing meetings with school counseling staff, which strengthens their bond with Técnico and increases their confidence in recommending it as a good fit for the student body; and following up on communication with interested students and their families, using a single point of contact to streamline communication and support the application process.
